For me the worst case scenario would be, that the download would take like and hour. then when you finally get to the point were the DLC starts a message will come up, "thanks for playing the game, but were not changing the ending because we already have your money. You Madd?" :(

Changes yes, but for rep to go up as good as well for both EA and Bioware. Not a chance, this s$%^ is on gaming history for life and history will always will repeat itself if they we all forget.

I expect the star child to do the truffle shuffle if shepard picks destroy.

I think I'm going to clarify something.

I think the word "want" is pretty synonymous with the word "expect" in this case. Why? Because what we want to happen is what we expect to happen if the EC is going to be successful. Successful meaning it will actually fix what we think is wrong with the ending, and thus be well-received, versus being fuel for yet another fire.

Yeah, there will be a fire. It'll be one that slowly consumes them because they not only didn't put it out, they added fuel to the fire by offering a supposed olive branch that really had no intention of fixing what really needed to be fixed. Sure, a lot of us will just give up and lose faith if EC doesn't cut the mustard...but there are quite a few who are just biding their time until EC comes out. If it doesn't address any real concerns, there will still be those who fight for what Mass Effect deserves.

Even if the fire doesn't come from us in protest, it will come when the BioWare label no longer carries the prestige it once did.

The lack of dialogue in this thread or any other makes me think the "we are listening" and "what do you want/expect" threads are nothing but trollilolololol. I hope not.

Maybe, wouldn't be surprising. But at least this way they can't say we never told them that "Clarification and Closure" weren't enough.

Part of the problem is that the ending choices themselves are nonsensical and don't make sense, especially in the context of the entire story. I don't know how any further explanation of bad overall choices will fix that. Explanation, clarification, and closure will also not fix the broken thematic elements in the ending...unless the writers suddenly turn into magicians.

The biggest problems with the endings are the choices are horrible and nihilistic, which has never been a theme in Mass Effect before. If they're not adding new endings or doing significant changes, that rough, rude thematic shift will not be fixed.

That's the problem though. We don't really know the whole story to the current endings we have. Is it really just Mass genocide, slavery, or DNA rape or is it something much more than that? What happens to everyone after that? We don't know anything other than that the relays explode. That's what the EC is going to try to fix. I say give it a chance, especially since they are now putting a lot more effort into the ending DLC than they had ever before.

No matter what is explained or not explained, Shepard still had no right to choose to make everyone meld with synthetics, no right to chose to control a sentient race, and no right to destroy an entire race. No amount of explanation changes that.

    *shrugs*

I say just give it a chance. I doubt that they would want the EC to make the endings any worse than they are right now. They have a large team working on it. I think that a lot of them are legitimately trying the best that they can in order to pull this off properly.

I'm not optimistic by any stretch. They had to try very, very hard to disappoint me with this game (as I said not too long ago in another thread, I was so excited I went searching for one of the copies attached to a weather balloon last March), and they managed to do it very thoroughly. I'd be a lot more optimistic if they actually did listen and decided to give us more options for endings instead of vehemently defending their "artistic vision." Honestly, if they wanted me to be optimistic at this juncture, they'd have done it right the first time.

    I'm with Jeff Duham's Peanut: "Polish a turd, it's still a turd."

Could they surprise me? Sure. Do I realistically think they will given their current track record at the moment? No.

Well, I'm staying optimistic for now because being a pessimist for the past 2 months have slowly drove me insane. I'm actually looking forward to it. If it happens to disappoint me then I will do what I can to get in contact with a few people at BW and politely ask them what the hell happened.

I'm not so much being a pessimist as I am being an objectivist and a realist. I've already been absolutely crushed after being on such a high for so many months in anticipation of ME3, and I don't want to get my hopes up. Ever since this EC was announced, I've gotten a sinking feeling that BioWare heard a few select words through their filter and decided that's all they really wanted to hear and so that's what they were going to address. It just seemed like a move to cover their hide...a true compromise would've been not re-doing the ending, but perhaps giving us more ending options. Right now they're sitting us down and telling us we didn't understand, so they'll explain it better for us.

If you do indeed end up talking with BioWare, please let me know what they say, as I would be extremely interested and curious to know what they have to say. XD You know, I've gotta give it to Patrick Weekes, he's been such a champ. I really appreciate him for what he's done for us.

Well, sure. I mean I had Jessica and Weekes respond to me whenever I asked a question nicely. Remember when someone asked Jessica if Shepard can survive and save the normandy and his/her squad mates from tarzan world? Yeah, I was that guy. Obviously if there is nothing in the EC to actually show that then I will ask her what the hell happened.

Problem is that Jessica doesn't work on the game development side at all, so I don't think she'd know any better than the next person at BioWare who isn't on the dev team. Weekes would know, though...if he could talk about it.

But she still works there. So she still probably knows more than most of us.

More than us, yeah, but more than the dev team? No. She also said something along the lines of how the geth aren't actually destroyed in the Destroy ending...so...yeah. She has also contradicted Mike Gamble and Patrick Weekes's statements before. I'd take everything I hear from her with a large grain of salt.
