IF the Extended Cut fixes the ending, I will replay ME3 many times over, and buy plenty of SP (and maybe some MP) DLC.

IF the Extended Cut fails to fix the ending, I will probably never play ME3 again, and even if I got on some kind of masochistic streak and decided to try it out again, I will most certainly NEVER give Bioware another dime, whether for DLC or any future games.

I know there's enough talent at Bioware that the EC could be the former, but based on your assertions that you are sticking to your "artistic vision" and that you won't change the ending, I expect the EC is going to be the latter.

It's impossible to say without knowing what it's going to have, but from everything we've heard about it, it's going to be far short of what's needed to fix this. So, unless what we've been told so far is just PR-speak and the ending is actually changing, not just being "clarified", I'm done with Mass Effect, and since that'll be the final nail in the coffin proving that the company doesn't give a damn about what the fans think and we're just bank accounts to them, I'm done with Bioware. I'll be selling my Collector's Editions to buy Skyrim or Diablo 3.

@Evil Chris Priestly I find myself torn on this answer. Because if the EC doesn't answer the plot holes I'm still going to play multiplayer (I am addicted) but I'm done with the single player. However if the EC can explain what happened then my love of Mass Effect will be unchanged.
Unlike some I'm not looking for the happy ending. In fact their are only a few things that I think have to be addressed. I'm gonna list em here.

    1. Joker escaping a relay explosion.
    2. Edi surviving the destroy option.
    3. Shepard on Earth among wreckage when he "breathes"
    4. Shepard having a wound where he shot Anderson
    5. The Illusive man's new powers.
    6. Why didn't the relays explode like they did in the Arrival DLC
    7. How did my squad get to the Normandy
    8. How can I control the Reapers if I'm dead
    9. What happened next
    10. Who was the old man and the kid
    11. How does Synthesis work

If these can be answered I can excuses any other plothole.

I love Mass Effect and I love Bioware. I hope I can continue to do so after the EC.

Hmm, if you answer all the questions, and there is a ton of them. Clarify, as you say and make things coherent, you will have earned another chance i think. But the ME universe has been scarred forever for me, as it stands, i can't bring myself to play any of the games again.
If not, sorry, but i'm probably done with bioware forever, i might borrow a copy of DA3, but beyond that, i will not care.
I will probably start playing an Mmo, but not a Mass Effect Mmo. Nope. If things are different. Perhaps.
Pleasing 100% of the people is impossible, i do not expect that at all, i would not expect you to either. I simply wish to finish ME3, sit back, feeling satisfied and fulfilled and want to talk about how cool it was, not how much it sucks.

Seeing as we don't really know exactly what the Extended Cut DLC entails, I'll keep my expectations fairly low. At the very least I'm hoping that it provides for a much smoother transition; make the players feel less confused and less empty by the time the credits start rolling.

I doubt I'll ever abandon the Mass Effect series, but the way things stand now, I honestly can't bring myself to play any more than thirty minutes of any of the three games knowing how it all plays out in the end. I'll keep praying, for both BioWare's sake and for the fans, that the Extended Cut will be able to lessen the blow that this ending has brought to many of us.

Best of luck to all you hard-working folks at BioWare. :)

I'm not sure I can answer this poll until after I play EC. If it corrects the current flaws I see in the game then I am definitely open to purchasing future SP DLC. If I'm not happy with EC then I'm done with Mass Effect or any future Bioware games.

Either way MP isn't really my bag, so I don't intend to purchase any multiplayer related DLC.

Im hopeful for a bright future where my chocies are reflected in the outcomes at the end. Im pretty sure that the extended cut actually contains DLC for an ending that uses the legend savefile. Im excited :D

Agreed that the poll options aren't entirely reflective of how I feel. I went with "I'll play ME3 multiplay, but I am done with the Single Play game. Period." However I should state that I am only "done" with the SP if EC bombs.

I enjoy MP with the people I've met here and it's a way to keep at least a small dose of ME in my life though I doubt I'll buy any paid DLC for it. When it comes to the SP aspect, I've never loved a game or its characters this much before. Obviously I don't want it to end but if EC is bad I think I'd rather just say goodbye to ME and my Shepard before my memories of it become too tarnished by disappointment. No matter how good subsequent DLC is I don't think I'd have the heart to play it. :(

    Hey Mr. Priestly,

I haven't responded to one of your threads yet, so I'd like to start with a blanket comment: thank you for reaching out to the fans. I hope what you've seen/will see assures you of just how passionate about this series we are, and how much we just want to enjoy Mass Effect again.

It's been said already, but strength is numbers and all: I voted under the (tentative, extremely optimistic) assumption that the DLC will end the campaign in a satisfactory manner.

In that case: I'm going to squeel with joy. Then I'll replay the entire trilogy. Try some new stuff. Purchase the Mass Effect artbook (I can never resist one), and finally get myself an N7 hoodie, 'cause I've been craving one since the first game. Subsequent SP DLC? BRING IT. Especially if it adds new squadmates! (I've already purchased each tie-in novel, comic, and ME2 DLC, for a frame of reference.)

If not...yeah, I'm done. I'm not being cynical here; it pains me to look at my N7 Collector's Edition. I had to hide it away in the closet just to give myself some peace of mind, and I hate that I have to do that. Saying "I'll never buy another BioWare game"...yeah, I can do that. Really, Mass Effect was all I played from BW, and I really, truly love it After everything that's happened...I'm just going to be disheartened and jaded if issues aren't resolved.

I really, really hope the former is what happens, even if it costs me more than I should spend :)

(Multiplayer, from me, is a no either way; I don't want an xbox gold account, and I din't want to switch to ps3 just for multiplayer and lose my old saves. I had some fun with the demo, but I'll always see the multiplayer as just an extra.)

It all depends on whether or not the EC is able to rekindle my desire to play ME3 several times as i did with ME and ME2.
IF the EC proves to be as good as i hope, than i'll turn the page and give bioware another chance in their future games/DLC
I'm a great fan of bioware and i really hope our relationship doesn't end this way...
    Meanwhile...
I'll just keep doing what i do...
Holding the Line as long as it takes...

It all depends on how the EC DLC goes. However I am a pesimist and I don't really see how this EC will fix anything. Especially since your expanding on an ending that was bad to begin with.

P.S. this was a question to ask once you've released the DLC

After rereading all the responses, I kind of want to add something...

I think the only way the Extended Cut could really renew my faith is if it renewed my love. I love this series. I've absorbed the technical details, fought and survived through multiple difficulty settings, fell in love with the Multiplayer. I have all the books, the comics, I was trying to keep up on everything in the search for that giant payoff - the thing that at once gave me closure, and made me want to go through the roller coaster again.

I don't know if it's describable in words - though the people who have come before me have made some fantastic points. What was, and is now, missing for me was the heart and emotion of the game. I wanted to sob. I had tissues at my desk for heaven's sake! I was playing ME3 at 3 AM, and I had work the next day!

I think, in a lot of ways, I can forgive a lot - if I believe you (through the game) love me again... But Mass Effect and I are at a rocky part of our relationship. I want it to buy me flowers, and it keeps telling me that flowers are a waste of money.

Show me the flowers, and I'm back on the bandwagon.

PS: I still have not voted.

    Mr Priestly

I took a 2nd look at what you wrote and tried to think about it differently. Let's assume that the ending was everything that I wanted in an ending. It somehow tied up every plot hole, made my decisions matter, and protected the narrative consistency of Mass Effect. Not only that, but it showed true artistic integrity. I mean...not what BioWare claims...but showing a love and caring for the product and making a sincere attempt to make sure it was perfect. I mean....total best case scenario. What would I do?

    What would I do?

If I was presented with the absolutely best thing that BioWare could produce and it was a truly satisfying experience, I would accept the product as an apology. I would be very hesitant about purchasing any more BioWare products in the future. That can't be helped at this point. But I would at least consider playing them. I don't think I'd be able to go back to Mass Effect again. Maybe I'm wrong. I am playing through ME-2 right now, just trying to remember the fun I used to have with the series. I'm on Omega right now, Mr. Priestly. I'm on the mission to get Garrus....just talking to the various merc groups just before jumping into the fray. In my group, I have Miranda and Mordin. My own M&M connection. They are a pretty good team and I think they should keep Garrus alive. At least, I hope they can. I used to love Omega, Mr. Priestly. But right now, I'm just trying to remember what I saw in it.

So, right now....I'm picking the fourth choice as my answer. Not because I hate the product. But because I used to love it.

    Dear Mr. Priestly,

I went with option #3. But let me be perfectly clear, this will only be true if the Extended Cut gives me back any replay value not only of ME3 but of the trilogy. If not, I'm sure Origin one day will tell you that I just uninstalled the game ;)

While I played MP for some rounds and to some degree enjoyed it, the most important part for me in the Mass Effect games is the singleplayer and its awesome story. That's the reason why I felt in love with universe you guys created, but if this stays spoiled no amount of MP can fix this for me.

I have still hope (even if it's only a fool's hope) that the Extended Cut and the work you put into it might undo some of the damage done...and what's the point in two hearts if you can't be a bit forgiving now and then...

But please be aware, that the EC is my last chance I can offer you :)

Yeah, I'm on the fence with this one too. Where voting's concerned. It really all comes down to how you at BioWare perform with the EC DLC. The best I can say is that if you surprise me and deliver the multiple endings that many of us want and that you promised to begin with I think it's safe to say I will continue buying and playing your products. For years, provided this kind of stunt isn't pulled again. However, if the DLC turns out to be what I and others fear it will be, I will not be buying and will continue with this protest movement until we have the coherent, lore-supported, diverse and positively stellar endings that ME3 should have launched with. Maybe that's not what you want to hear but that's all I can give you. Thank you. One more thing, you should do away with the MP requirement for the SP game. That bit would still be really annoying even if I do decide to pick up multiplayer. Just a friendly reminder :)

I'm with most of the HTL'ers that responded.

If the EC DLC fixes the ending to an acceptable level, I can go ahead and play SP and MP with a smile.

If not, I'm done. It's sad but true. As I get older I find it easier to stay my hand from buying games from companies that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

I will always play ME1 though, because that game is amazing.
