Hm, though this mod only reflects what the modder considers appropriate for an ending, I'll definitely be giving it a look.
He's right, you're not gonna please everyone but this sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Noel!
Also looking forward to what else they're gonna come up with.

Does it save the ending? Not really (to be fair, I'm not sure anything besides a flamethrower could save the ending as we have it), and the Reapers' new motivation is just as nonsensical, thought not as blatantly contradictory.

However, I really like it, if only for one true reason. It does the one thing that would've made the original ending at least tolerable to me. I'll use his own words:

While I have only seen the conversation and the older versions of Integration/synthesis, I like the change. It's a much more effective solution, far more ambiguous and uncertain, a fitting tone for how the last part of Mass Effect plays out.

Thanks for sharing, @Noelemahc! I'm all for creative interpretations of the game and/or ending. Nothing is ever perfect, but seeing the fan-fics and mods being creative just shows how much fans cared. Well done.

Thanks very much for posting this link! I was hoping to see it in action before I start modding it in. (PC gaming: The closest you can get to a kickin' universal console!(y))

Well, the links to the video previews are posted in the OP of the BSN thread for that very purpose. 'S why I posted the link without comment =)

Sorry, I skimmed the BSN posts and didn't click the links so I didn't even see there were videos. I found the channel on YouTube by the name of the mod.

It's...a little weird, but it's better than what we got. I have to admit that the concept of eezo being sentient seems ridiculous, but I like the general concept of a twist regarding eezo. At least it's not synthetics vs. organics again.

I wasn't a fan of the writing. It felt like Commander Shepard just kept repeating back the last thing the VI would say as a question? The only character who can get away with that is Solid Snake.

So you're saying only Snake can get away with repeating things he had just been told in the form of a question? [/meta]

It's over complicated. We need a simplified version of the endings. Waiting for someone to have the good sense to cut the Catalyst out COMPLETELY. Not try to add a brand new non-sense plot line in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Just cutting the Catalyst and Normandy crash scenes, combined with some kind of reunion with crew scene is good enough.

t was only a matter of time and they cannot screw it more than it has been, so go for it.

From what I understand from how this was done, it was done this way because the author only figured out how to change the audio and subtitles (and the Catalyst's face, thank goodness) and that was already enough to significantly reduce the suckage factor of the endings.

Well, almost everyone hated him. Not because his character was designed to be the bad guy, but because he sucks and is introduced right at the end, which kind of blinded everyone to say the faults of priority: Earth, at least for a while.
But gah, hate him so much.

Well we could even mod the conversation further. Hell just keep it the kid. And let's follow Casey's lead on this and keep the conversation high level except take it even higher level sort of like this:

    Kid: Wake up.
S: Yeah what? Where am I? And what the hell are you?
K: The Citadel. I am the Catalyst.
S: So what's the deal here?
K: You've reached the end. You have to make a choice.
    S: Okay.
K: You can die by electrocution over there....(show Illusive Man). Or die by diving into the green beam over there (show swan dive). Or you can shoot the tube over there (show Anderson).
S: Do any of these kill the reapers? Do I get to live anywhere?
K: (checks EMS) It seems as though you've done sufficient. If you shoot the tube you will destroy the reapers, get to take a gasp of air in a pile of rubble, and live.
S: Do I get to get out of the rubble?
K: No. Sorry that's the best ending they wrote.
    S: @$!!
    K: Are you ready?
S: Yeah. (ramps go up) Okay, here goes. I hope they eventually write a DLC to get me out of there, or get me out of there in the next game. (shoots tube)

See that didn't take long. Kept it high level and minimal.

LOL, Svetlana, that's a riot! I think they could have gone even more minimalist on that, though:

S: Who are you? Where am I?
K: You don't really need to know who I am or what I'm here for. Suffice it to say I'm an awesome-button merger of Jump the Shark and whatever machina you prefer.
    S: ....
K: So, Shep, pick a primary color.
    S: Fu...

actually not so much, you would be surprised what you can do with an Xport 360.

    http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Xport/dp/B000OQ9KGK

and because you can install the game to the hard drive, you can now, access the program files of the game your playing ON the hard drive, which means you can install mods, and they are legit as far as Live is concerned, because all your doing is loading data, not modding your hardware.

it takes a little while to understand and get used to the 360 file structure and the nature of header files, but overall it's fine.

Ex. I was able to add the Underground Bunker mod to Fallout 3 on Xbox 360.

    :D
