Probably don't need a poll now that you've come in here and made me feel silly.

Despite your reassurance, I'm still wondering if we might push the date back until the OP is at least back to see the fruits of her labor. The 21st?

It leaves one to question. Is it better to do this during the week? It will be easy for people to keep from playing, but Bioware may see it as just a normal weekday occurrence. On the weekend it might be harder for people to resist playing MP, but we can probably get more people on board for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and make some nice numbers.

As far as weekends, we have the weekend of the 20th and the weekend of the 27th left in April, so we should pick one and go with it.

I haven't been able to play MP at all because of how the ending left me feeling, but I'd gladly take one for the team and play for Stage 1 if I could play with people from HTL.

Okay, so the 20th or the 27th? Do we do it Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday?

It would have to have a pretty large backing. I mean, it won't work with just 20 people. If this is something HTL should go through with we should start advertising as soon as possible.

I agree. We're just waiting on a specific date from the lady who proposed it. Could be the weekend of the 20th or the weekend of the 27th.

This could definitely work because it's not focusing on a specific fan demand, but rather just making a statement. I'm sure you already know this, but it'd have to be advertised and expected, so that when it does happen, no one can write it off as a fluke. Kind of like when all of those sites went down to boycott SOPA; most people knew it was coming.

Gosh, I'm so happy you guys approve! Thanks, kihten and everyone!

My two cents: I like the 27th, because it gives us more time and I don't want to drop a load of work on people and then run off on vacation. I sort of envisioned having enough time for someone more artistic than me to make banners, like: "Turn Liara On, April 27th," "Turn off the Starchild, April 28th."

I think it's important for people to play the single player game, even if it's painful, just to show them that single player deserves attention. I think MP is currently racking up more player #'s than SP just because many of us can't stand to play SP. It's important for Day 1 data to be different from the "usual" numbers they get, so more SP, more demo downloads will be anomalous and can be linked to the campaign. It probably wouldn't hurt to do both SP and MP, but it's critical to play SP. (BTW, I'd love to play MP with you, cyrrant -- I only really do bronze, though.)

I think PS3 players might not be tracked -- part of their problem with playing the "special" weekend MP stuff. I believe XBox users can be tracked if they turn something on. Maybe PS3 players could download the PC demo and play? At the very least, they could post to/avoid the BSN on the same day. If we can get a lot of people to avoid the BSN on day 2, we make a statement, and pro-enders get one day when they can start "I love the ending" threads and not have to argue with anyone. Again, win-win!

So it sounds like what you're asking for is for Lil One to mock up some fun banners for us, which she can definitely do. The next bit is advertising. Would you prefer to do this Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday? I personally suggest Saturday/Sunday as people will have more time to play on a Saturday for Stage 1. If we can come up with a quick poster that hits the major points then we can get someone from the Creative Team to make a sweet "flyer" style picture that can be easily linked to facebook and BSN.

Urging PS3 players to download the demo isn't a bad idea, though I bet there are still at least SOME metrics that Bioware gets from PSN players completing playthroughs and getting trophies and stuff.

Thank you for offering to play with me! I'm actually going on vacation starting tomorrow, but I might take you up on that offer when you get back.

Actually, speaking of posters, I saw DrowVampyre did some sweet stuff for the Child's Play drive and was just added to the creative team, could get some help there.

Silvy does great signature banners, so we should get her in on this too.

Uh, okay, Saturday-Sunday it is. I didn't think I'd be the decider, just offering up a suggestion. Eek.

Is there some way to check that this idea will work? If PS3 players and XBox players aren't tracked, then it's a no-go. Who would know?

Well, we know for a fact that Xbox players are tracked, because they can participate in MP operation weekends. The only real question is PS3, but I feel like Bioware's love of making huge infographics with a bunch of aggregated player data would mean they HAVE to track it somehow.

AH! Maybe we can convince PS3 players to try and get as many trophies (like achievements but for PS3) as they can on that day. I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that those kinds of things are tracked, and if they're not actively being tracked, it's data that can be easily-accessed by Bioware if they want to take a look.

In one of the MP threads, Chris Priestly says for XBox and PC users: "Please remember to set “Upload Gameplay Feedback” to “on” in the online options to be able to participate" so that participants can get their swag at the end.

Sure, I can do a couple posters - do you have anything specific in mind for them?

Also this is your idea, you're the decider on everything until you don't want to be.

Well, we need the essential details. Stage 1 will be Saturday the 28th, Stage 2 will be Saturday the 29th. I like OP's idea of using "Turn it on for <some character>" as the tag for Stage 1, I'm a little less crazy about her idea for Stage 2.

I'd really hate to press you, but is it possible to come up with a poster for each LI? Maybe it can be modular and the text won't change except for the tag line, and a picture of said LI.

Details of what should be in it should be up to Shinobu, I might suggest a few short bullets describing each stage, and then maybe stick the HTL logo somewhere tastefully discrete.
