Gman you're right - lets look at WoW - when it first came out - it was incomplete - there was no end raiding - there was major logging issues - yet they capture a few things that people liked.

Personnaly - I found WoW too easy coming from EQ - WoW would cuddle you and EQ would beat you bloody :D Sadly that's my I'm still annoyed with Sony after what they did with Vanguard - if they'd given them the money and 6 months that game launch would of been soooooooo different.

the lore was amazing - it wasn't as harsh as say EQ was originally but it also didn't cuddle you - it had perfect balance. Each class/subclass was viable - from adventurer - crafter - diplomacy - best crafting system in a game ever - period. It engaged you when crafting and wasn't freaking boring. Diplomacy card game was so different so very cool. If there was a game that had sooo much potental - yet crashed and burned badly its Vanguard......

Yeah, people don't want to play WOW because its WOW, so companies need to learn a new model from scratch.

I also like my other habits, so MMO's are not something i want to get into.

I actually agree with you that a crash wouldn't be a bad thing at this point. I mean we're near the end of this generation and developers seem to be going out of their way to avoid quality IP so punish them. At the very least the market needs to reset itself a bit as developers are putting square pegs into round holes with the online features in all these games. Also EA and Activision need to be replaced at the top. Greed is great up to a point as initially it encourages innovation but eventually devolves into how to turn a buck as quickly as possible in spite of quality.

It does seem to be nice though that announcing you want the COD crowd is starting to work against developers.
