I never heard about Mass effect till 2008 when my brother bought it.
But I would be seriously underwhelmed if I watched those video's first.

No mistake ME1 is good, but if it was what they actually said in those video's perhaps it would be legendary.

    Continuing our ME1 endeavours.

You may recall the ME1 galaxy map showing you a tiny preview image of what the planet you're landing on is all about. Well, these did have quite a few that raised my eyebrows (yes, you probably have seen some of these in the games, but do you remember WHERE?)

And another fun thing: chevrons. These are contained in the same package as the achievement images, but I don't recall these appearing anywhere in the game. Do you?

And a small teaser: all those cheat-only gear item manufacturers we discussed earlier? They ALL have insignias, and there's more insignias, in fact, than there are manufacturers in the datafiles!

    Also, thanks again Noel!
I'm eagerly waiting for the insignias of the manufacturers. They could come in handy for a project of mine.

One thing about it, that would certainly have explained the over-abundance of Banshees, despite the limited supply of Ardat-Yakshi.

Anyone ever wonder what would happen if two Ardat-Yakshi joined? Naturally, my first thought is that it would kill them both, but when two normal Asari mate both don't become impregnated so, it leaves me wondering...

Says who? Impregnation of Asari during mating is said to be completely voluntary on the part of the mother-to-be. They COULD if they so chose. AFAIK, Samara mentions it offhand that AYs are barren and cannot reproduce and that's pretty much the only reason why they haven't overrun the galaxy yet.

    Ahhhh...

Damn, that'd be pretty handy: being able to decide whether or not to conceive without taking any additional measures.

That'd be interesting for two Asari to each conceive from a single joining. Well...it would be weird to have a different mother and father, but still be siblings...lol. "So, you (Parent 1) are my mother and her (Child 2) father, and you (Parent 2) are my father and her (Child 2) mother." Of course, it would seem normal to the Asari. It's just an interesting scenario.

BTW, I was mentioning Asari impregnation apart from my comment about the Ardat-Yakshi.
And you are correct: Samara did mention they AYs were unable to conceive.

The first link outlines the November Beta's plot for Omega, we still have no yes-or-no about it being used in the final game, and the second is a repost of the contents of the first =)

Still, yay, this means the media is watching us =)

Just wanted to bring this up as having been explained by the November Beta: Banshees weren't made FROM Ardat-Yakshi, they were made by stuffing random abducted Asari into some sort of machine powered by Rila and Falere to huskify them and imbue them with AY abilities.

The thread isn't dead, it's just that work and doctor visits are taking too much strength out of me. My workplan is still the same: all the manufacturer insignias of ME1, then moving on to story dialogue.

Though it would explain the over-abundance of Banshees, I'm having a difficult time believing that that is the truth of what was occurring in-game. There isn't so much of a hint that Rila and Falere were being used to power some Asari-Husk machine, other than the fact that they're both AYs in the same general location.

Falere was genuinely shocked when Rila lunged at her and tried to choke her. If they were being used to make the Banshees it's unlikely that Falere wouldn't know what Rila's problem was.

Plus, if they were being used to power this Asari-Husk machine, it would likely have been somewhere nearby, but is nowhere to be seen.

At most, I'll buy that it was their original idea, but that they ran out of time to implement it. Still, it wouldn't explain them using such misleading dialogue with Rila and Falere. Though Rila's line, "We're not your slaves" fits the outline of the "Banshee Broodmother" idea, the rest of the dialogue is wholly misleading.
Also, though Samara did say that her daughters were the only known AYs in existence, the datapads and autio logs found indicate that they were absolutely not the only AYs residing there. At the same time, I suppose it could have been a last ditch effort at providing some plausibility as to why there were so many Banshees in the game.

Dude, that was my point. The original plot was keeping in with ME2 that Rila, Falere and Morinth are the only three AYs in the universe, and the Banshees came from using the AYs like Darkspawn Brood Mothers. Then someone somewhere decided that would be too samey and they changed it into simple huskification of AYs, in the interim breaking the lore on AYs entirely.

Well, you didn't sound very dismissive of their explanation in that post, which is why I took it at face value.

Congratz, though it's so random they pick up story about plot from the beta which may not even be actual anymore. LOTSB changed a lot too right?

I thought the codex explained that Banshees were made from asari with AY genetic potential, not purely AY.

What I don't get is why there's supposedly so many AY in this monastery when Samara says her daughters are the only ones in existence in ME2.

Just checked in here again after a hiatus from the site. More good stuff to be had! :)

IIRC, she said that they were the only known Ardat-Yakshi in existence. Even so, for numerous AY to come out of the woodwork and populate a monastery in just a matter of months makes for exceptionally weak storytelling.

Is there any chance the scene from the E3 2006 demo is in the game/orginal script? Where Shepard threatens the bar tender for information. I also hope its possible to get the face sliders for beta Shepard. Thanks for all the other great info!

Well, parts of the E3 demos are in the game, but there's no way to get them to actually show IN the game that I know of. Voiceovers and subtitle files are present, at least.
Looking for those myself, actually. Afraid will have to eyeball them =(
