Which is cool - that's partly what makes this fun is watching how people have reacted - watching BW throw out disinformation along with a lot of information if you dig.

Ok - then explain the newsletter? Because if a normal business is trying to get bad press down about their product - basically they need to turn it around and soon as possibly not keep feeding the machine.....Which is exactly what BW/EA is doing.

If you look at all the disjointedness picture of what BW done so far; none of it makes sense at all until you take a step back and go.....go god they did this on purpose. Did they get the exact reaction they thought they'd get; not completely.

They knew there was going to be backlash - aka Casey's statement about polarising the fans - Mike's tweets; ME3's tweets, Jessica's tweets.....the good doctor's blog which LukeE has a nice break down of.

I've spoken from a business point of view after speaking with my dad who was a CFO - ex VP of major fortune 500 company aka the number 2 in the company. He was the one that used to say no to the CEO saying you can't do that. Laid it out for him all the evidence - and he said; on paper it would look good......Hell New Coke on paper looked awesome.....we all know how that turned out ;)

But biggest thing that happened was us customers - they had projected most likely 30ish% most likely would hate the ending most likely 30% would be on the fence most likely 30% would like it. That kind of break down would give them time to fully finish the endings and them as a big PR stun release for free. They started on this course of action - they can't admit or .... most likely EA won't let them admit it - sad part is; if they did most of the fans would understand and this would wash over....

More and more evidence seems to show IT actually is the case - I mean hell their own end game saves only check to see if destroy was picked and ignores/doesn't care about syth or control.....its one or the other....

No offense intended, but again, I just cannot agree with anything you've said. It's good that you're optimistic and you're giving BW the benefit of the doubt, but I don't believe for a second this was some master plan for a PR stunt. There are numbers and facts in your post that are seemingly pulled out of thin air. 30% would like it and 30% would hate it? Why? Where does this come from?

Tell you what, a lot of what you're saying is pretty much pure speculation on your part. So, quid pro quo, allow me to offer up my own bit of speculation.

Wild, unfounded, silly, fictional theory follows...

BW is behind schedule. They need more time to complete the ending the way they intend to. They have these great bits of voice-over dialogue and the GUI ready to go, but they just need a bit longer. They explain the situation to their corporate masters at EA. The EA guys say they'll get back to BW after they have a super-serious meeting with the EA Masters of Evil in the dank cavern under Mount Doom to discuss the situation.

"We've put a lot of money into the marketing machine for the March release date," Lord Vader says.

"And we already pushed the release date back once before," Dr. Evil chips in, pinky at the corner of his mouth. Davros and Sauron nod sagely in the background.

Then the Kingpin has an idea. He's seen what Capcom did with Asura's Wrath. He's seen what Square-Enix did with Final Fantasy XIII-2's 'to be continued' ending. And heck, don't those crazy kids just LOVE alternate endings on those DVDs and Blu-rays they're buying all the time? He proposes to the board: "What a great idea. But heck, we can do it ten times better than those clowns can!"

"And we'll make a boatload more money than them!" adds Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. The Borg Queen smiles at this news.

    ****

So EA calls BW back and tells them to cut corners and ship the game on time. "Don't worry about it. You can keep working on the ending post-release. Take your sweet time. No rush. The kids are willing to be spoonfed whatever crap we can give 'em. Besides, there's some cash to be made a few months from now."

    :cautious:

What? What are you looking at? I did say it was a silly speculation.

I'm never going to be able to hear someone saying "Speculate to accumulate" without thinking Speculation for everyone. Also from now on if I think something was bad it's still ........ wait for it .......... Better than the ending to mass effect 3.

One day, I'll tell my grandchilds the stories about how Frodo left the Shire and saved Middle-Earth, how Luke defeated the Emperor and brought balance to the Force and how Shepard united the galaxy and defeated the Reapers Marauder Shields saved me from the ending of Mass Effect 3 o_O

Yeah, exactly. Even if the EC DLC would somehow be a complete rewrite with any ending anyone could ever imagine (yes, including romancing Harbinger and getting a full romance scene with a naked Harby) there will always be the "Still better than the [original] ending of ME3"...

Sad but true :( I was watching a horrible movie the other day (Wes Craven's New Nightmare, so bad it was funny, but that’s just my opinion) but the only thing I kept thinking was, still better than the ending of Mass Effect 3.
