EA didnt create the game, Bioware did. EA is just the money and advertising. If you boycott Bioware, and that revenue stream dries up, then EA wont put millions into them to produce another game because its not worth the money to do so.

As it stands with such bad press and controversy, and with only moderate sales, i wonder if they will even touch the Mass effect franchise again.

I do remember previously reading (don't quote me on that, since I don't remember where) about how Bioware assured the fans that EA was NOT calling the shots, and that they retained full control of their products. Admittedly, it could just be "false reassurance" to avoid having fans boycott them, but they seemed wanting to protect the Evil Overlord.

    My personal position:
Wait until extended cut DLC released. If it is what it seems now; then boycott EA (emphasizing on BioWare) until BW walks away from EA.

I also liked the idea to kickstarter (if needed) first BioWare solo project after leaving Electronic Arts. I do believe in BW, I belive that they still can develop awesome games. But now it's just impossible to trust and support them. After what they've done to their loyal supporters.

In my opinion boycotting EA is a ridiculous notion. Firstly, because it is not possible to get every gamer who buys EA products to drop them, so essentially any movement against them will be a drop in the ocean. Lastly, EA did not make the game, they might have forced BWs hand or rushed it, but the fault lies with BW for shaking hands with the devil.

I pretty much already was. I haven't bought an EA game that wasn't made by Boiware since the first Army of Two, and I bought that used.

It is kinda silly to try and do so, but it's the only way we can get their attention. Even if we are a minority in the gaming population as a whole just ignoring a population that could have purchased your wares is something that EA would probably not do. Also even if EA didn't make the game they are the true powers that be that Bioware eventually answers to, so by catching EA's attention we are more likely to have an effect that we all want from Bioware.

For me, Dragon Age 2 was Strike 1 on EA/Bioware. Mass Effect 3 is Strike 2...

Personally. Enjoy Salarian baseball. Far more effecient game. Two strike policy. Then ejected from game. Then planet. Gets rid of the bad players.

Also, better beer than Earth baseball.

I think that RTM and HTL movement it should NOT do anything that even looks like an official boycot of any company no matter what. Not sure if i am making sence. See if we did a official boycott we might piss off people in the gamming industry to the point of not taking us seriously OR not wanting to have dialog with us. If this turns into something that is an avocacy group for gammers buy gammers this stance might back fire on us as well.

I am however at this moment personaly boycott BioWare, I am doing this because this is where I am at in my relationship with the compay. I believe in Holding My Wallet with calm, respect, and dignity and this is what I am doing with my money however this is something I am doing personaly as an individual. I am still extremly hopefull that BioWare will change my mind and win be back and thats the one of the reason's why I am here and apart of the HTL movement.

Am I making any secne to anyone ???

Bioware made the game, Bioware failed with the ending. So it's Bioware who are getting no more of my money.
If they manage to provide a satisfactory ending with the extended cut, they will probably win back my custom.

Reading through the thread got me thinking. In a way this is a teachable moment for EA/Bioware and when it comes to teaching there's value in both discouraging bad behavior and rewarding good behavior. Would there be support for something like a "rEAp this" or "rEap what you sow" campaign that recognizes and promotes companies and developers that embody healthy relationships with their customer base? Say to EA that the money that might have gone to you is instead going to these outlets because they do "X", "Y", & "Z". It's still effectively a boycott but with a positive message focus that would be tougher to dismiss or paint in a negative light.

    I like this idea.

I've been thinking about this, and I don't think the thing to do is to boycott a company. What we need to look at doing is boycotting business practices we don't agree with. I've decided I'm not buying anymore games that come with online passes or day one DLC,. Right now I believe it's only EA that uses online passes so for now it's only them I'm avoiding, but if EA gets away with it how long do you think it will be till other companies start using them.

This is a good idea, especially since it might enable us to involve more people. Plenty of SWTOR players are angry as well as DA 2 players. And while rEAp what you sew would obviously be intended for EA, there are other gaming companies that treat their player bases poorly too. Something like this might not only help ME 3 players, but grow to something larger that helps others as well.

This is where you are wrong - on a business stand point - BW is scared; even more so EA is actually been scared by this. How can we tell after this started in only 2 weeks we got CEO of BW; a VP of EA to speak out on this.

To actually get top man to speak out on a trouble product in only 2 weeks is massive; There is only one other time that a company has responded so quickly to backlash and that Coke with New Coke debacle.

We've changed the rules in how PR works with this and will continue to do so; the gaming industry as a whole has been shaken by this and we're starting to see it.......Interview with TellTale games about their Walking Dead game.....awesome; their moto for Walking Dead is.....Your Choice Matters......

We haven't affected anything? No we're changing the industry for the better.

BW started the campaign to "help them design N7 shoes" link below

    http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/324/index/11978665/1

I mean WTF, is there anything more important to do for them? Like ending problems?
But no! They decided to make more money, and guess what? They even want us to make all the job for them.

Also I was banned from BSN for posting this [IMG]
