      If you checked out Osprey Publishing's website, they do have some books covering the time period of military history that you are interested in. I do like their Campaign series, they cover battles and campaigns, for example Operation Barbarossa in 1941.

        I know they have some books on early greece up to genghis khan that you might like. There is a Campaign series book on the Battle of Thermopylae 480 BC that I'm sure you would be interested in.
