Guild Wars 2: My Charr will cook you pancakes! YUM!

Blog entry posted by Fiannawolf, Sep 30, 2012.

Part One: Inital Impressions

First: My general emotional state while frolicing around Tyria.

I AM EPICALLY AWESEOME!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY COOKING SUPPLIES! *makes beeline for random supply node that never fades and grabs moar random shit for her charr to make*

Every time I play my Asura Mage/Elementalist that song is playing in my head. XD

Ok onward to coherence! I think...

First this game takes out stuff that kills me on MMOs. Pointless grinding. The resource nodes never fade and everyone can harvest them at the same time. One profession doesnt have a monopoly on the others. Karma points gets you awesome gear without even looking at the Auction House for useless crap. Cooking is hilarious! CHAAAAR KILLS ALL THE THINGS FOR MEAT!! :p More then one profession can makes bags/lock boxes to expand inventory. YAY! Every little activity you do in this game gets your guild points to spend on itself to expand.

Plus even if your high level you can go around with friends that are other levels lower and it scales you down but you still have your good gear and skills to make you a murder machine. WEEE! The background choices you pick for your character class determines how your opening chapters play out. Each race's storyline is fun and different. This game doesnt take itself too seriously.

Case in point: Chaaaaaar COWAPULT FOR THE WIN!!

Charr are wolf cat things the size of krogans and they love BBQ and killing ghosts.
My silvari is Femshep so I has sads playing her....I made her blue....I HAD TOOO!!!
Asura are grimlins on acid. Plus they have a awesome city that makes me think transformers on crack.
Norns *Female pc* is Ivannova from B5 and they are like Nords from Skyrim....plus tons of ale...winning!
The humans are funny esp my noble background engineer with duel pistols of havoc. I set things on fire with her.

The dynamic world events occure constantly so you can gather with all the random players on the map and go around if you want. In this game helping peeple with everything doesnt hurt you at all. Everyone gets exp and goodies. YAY! No player infighting for items and such.

Havent PVPed at all yet so I dont know about it yet. Will update later.

For now:

Combat is smooth and exciting, your skills and attacks change based on what type of weapon is equiped.

Story is fun and entertaining. While not on the level of SWTOR's single player campain its fun and lighthearted and a leagues better then GW1 storyline.

Gameplay is smooth and theres some bugs but it doesnt hamper the overall emmersiveness of the setting.

In other words: If your looking for a fun romp thats worth the 50-60 bucks and takes as long as Skyrim to play and enjoy. Give it a go. Plus no monthly fees and you can use ingame currency to update your account with more slots and inventory. If thats your thing.
