Gamer Rep

Blog entry posted by AnthonyBoike, Aug 4, 2012.

Not sure about other platforms but people with a 360 might know what I'm talking about: Gamer Rep.
I know the basic function is for players not to be matched with other players they think trash talk too much, are unsporting, have low gaming skill or don't understand the rules of the game type and instead have a higher chance of being paired with gamers they prefer.

Personally I think it goes a little far when stats are shown for why people avoid you. When I first noticed it, I found it a bit jarring because, I believed I was generally easy going, funny and a team player when it counted. But seeing my Rep stats saying I'm aggressive, unsporting, quit early and trash talk seemed a bit harsh(though I maintain my innocence on quitting early, no game of Slayer is worth a bladder infection:ROFLMAO: ). Then I see that the prefer stat is low but, I figure it's low because some players generally don't submit a review which isn't bad, they most likely believe it's not that important.
Of course, when my self esteem was about to go down I thought, "Wait. I have a friends list with people who actually enjoy my play style and jokes, why do I care?" So I said screw it, stills millions of other gamers out in the world, not all of em' are so negative.

I'm sure there's some point I'm trying to make about not being self conscience and letting some stat bring down your mood because certain players aren't fond of your play style or whatever.
It's actually the reason my sister won't do any competitive MP anymore unless she signs in as a guest, not using her own tag. I know some people have different emotional gauges but, it hurts to see some state bring a persons self esteem down so far to the point they avoid their own tag.

Again, not sure the point I'm trying to make but thanks for reading.
