Electronic Arts Hall of Shame

Blog entry posted by K. R. Hamilton, Apr 21, 2012.

DisclaimerIn an effort to be fair to Electronic Arts, please let me know if you find any inaccurate information in the articles and multimedia elements that support my opinions on this blog. I want to make sure my opinion isn't biased by inaccurate information, so I'll do my best to check all the sources.

In this blog series, I aim to highlight the latest misdeeds by Electronic Arts. The information will be based on research and evidence from reliable sources, including thought provoking commentary and my personal opinion.

My reason for shining a spotlight on EA is simple, as Mr. Paul Tassi wrote on Forbes:

"I believe EA is a destructive force in the industry as their goal isn’t to make gaming more accessible and respected as a medium. How can you argue that video games are art, when pieces of the story are cleaved out to be sold separately?"

A Bit of History
This video by the brilliant MrBtongue provides a great overview of some of the problems in BioWare and EA, including a bit of history. I highly recommend watching this video if you care about BioWare or the gaming industry in general.

In the past, I bought every BioWare product and DLC (including other EA franchises like Dead Space, Battlefield, etc.) without ever reading any reviews, to avoid spoilers and to help form my own opinion. After my disappointment with Mass Effect 3 and the way EA and BioWare have handled the situation, they have lost my trust and loyalty. This was just the last straw in a long line of disappointments.

Worst Company in America for 2012
For the past several years, EA has been working hard to earn the Consumerist Worst Company in America Award.
